TODAY'S TORCH DAY!

Well, it's here - the day my husband, Neil, gets to carry the Olympic Torch, at 3:50 p.m. We drove to Camp Borden on Sunday, so we would be sure to know exactly where to go for the meeting and to see what the torch route was like. It's nice to feel sure that you are in control ;o) There have been some protests in Ontario and one torch carrier in Guelph was actually tripped. We are very happy that Neil's run will be in the Armed Forces base. There is supposed to be a way to view it live on the interactive Olympic site http://www.vancouver2010.com/
but I haven't had a chance to figure it out.

The weather here has been quite mild, but tonight there was a huge drop as a cold front moved in and "surprise", tomorrow's weather will be between -17 and -25 degrees, and for those of you who don't know the Celsius scale, it's BLOODY COLD LOL!

So, we got things ready today, and we pretended we were still living in Deep River ( a small town up north that was always freezing!) We made sure we all have warm clothing to wear tomorrow.
- thermal underwear
- lots and lots of layers of clothing
- extra heavy socks, gloves, scarves,
- snow pants and ski doo gloves for our grandson
- snow boots for everyone

So, off we go on our adventure - we'll be sure to have a blast and take lots of pictures so check back in a few days.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I would like to wish everyone a lovely holiday and I hope that your are all able to spend the season with your extended families (relatives OR friends). I know that having both our children with us, along with our six year old grandson, makes it perfect. Merry Christmas, everyone!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

I am so late with my Christmas decorating, this year. I guess it happens, when you haven't been feeling up to par. lately. However, I was determined to at least get the tree up, as my niece is coming with her two children, and we haven't seen them in 8 years. Thank goodness my hubby bought a pre-lit tree last year - I love it, although I need a step ladder to reach the top of this 7 1/2 foot baby. It has 1000 beautiful lights on it and I didn't have to string one :o)!!! I actually need a huge tree to hold our 200 plus ornaments. So, for the past two days, I have been arranging and re-arranging our tree, until finally it's just right. The best part - no more arguing about whether white lights or coloured lights are best. The tree comes with a remote and you can have either white lights OR coloured lights OR BOTH ~ YIPPEE!! (I just have to hide the remote LOL! I'd love to hear what your family likes - coloured or white lights!

PS: Guess who loooves the cozy new chenille tree skirt? :o)

Just white lights!

THE CHRISTMAS ROSE

Yesterday, when I was coming home, I was startled to see something in my garden. It was a rose bud, of all things. Amid all the cold and snow, there is was - one single rose, trying it's best to bloom. I knew it wouldn't last long, so I carefully cut it and took it inside to put in a small bud vase. I don't kow it if will open or not, but I have my fingers crossed for this Christmas rose. It certainly deserves it's chance to shine, especially this time of year!

Cheryl at Bingle Bears gave me this lovely blog award - thank you so much.  It is always so special when another artist I admire, enjoys my work!  I treasure it!

COMFY CAT!

My husband and I adopted one of our daughter's cats, two years ago. Tiger was just too afraid of our very young grandson, who delighted in chasing him. He still hides, when Corson comes to visit and he hears his voice, even though Corson has matured and would like nothing better than to cuddle him LOL!

We also buy a lot of throws, as Corson just loves to snuggle up with them when watching television. A few months ago, I found a perfect quilted throw for the loveseat, and guess who has claimed it - TIGER! He will wait for us to get up and he races and jumps in our place and he will paw at the throw until it is in a pile and then he sinks into it, all the while looking totally innocent! You have to physically remove him, to get your spot back. CATS, they certainly are a creature who loooooves comfort!

CHRISTMAS TED MAKE-OVER

Every one in a while, a teddy has difficulty finding his "forever" home. I thought this lovely boy was sold, but it was not to be. So, with a few small changes, I have listed Gabriel on Ebay for a few days, with no reserve. I hope you can find time to take a peek.

IT'S OFFICIAL!

Well, I can finally say it out loud - my hubby, Neil, is going to carry the Olympic torch, on December 29th, in Camp Borden, Ontario. He told me several weeks ago that he thought he was going to be asked, and it's not that I didn't believe him, it just seemed unreal. Well, he has now received his official confirmation and his outfit arrived by courier, a few days ago. A lovely jacket, pants, hat and red mittens, along with banners for us to wave, and the coolest coke bottle, that lights up and changes colour. Our grandson, Corson, is fascinated by it, so he will be the official coke bottle waver lol! Corson is so excited, and I'm sure the hardest part will be keeping him from running along with Papa!

We also get to keep the torch Neil will carry, which is a wonderful souvenier - we just have to get the stand to display it. The best part is that it's during the Christmas holidays, so school will be on holiday and we can all travel to Camp Borden on December 29th, to cheer him on and take tons of pictures. It's an incredible honour - CONGRATULATIONS, NEIL!
