Yippee! Two of my bears have won Judges Choice awards in their respective categories in the new Excellence in Bear Artistry Awards 2012.  I am so excited.  I've known for over a week and couldn't say anything until the official announcement was made on their website and that was so hard LOL!  There was some confusion which has now been clarified - the 3 chosen pieces to move forward in each category are all Judges Choice 'winners' and will receive lovely crystal awards :o). My two pieces are both in the minature categories - one for dressed and one for undressed.  They move on to voting online for the People's Choice part of the competition.  Voting is September 1st - October 15th and you can vote online by clicking here.  It's my pleasure to introduce my two bears :o)

I am looking forward to participating in the Teddies Worldwide Christmas Treasures Online Bear Show, November 16th - 18th.  This is a wonderful show, with 75 artists from all over the world.  Preview starts November 2nd, with voting for the show previews. Some artists will also have gift items as well as bears, so please, mark it on your calendar - you don't want to miss it :o)

I've been playing around with tiny bears again, which were my passion for years, before my hands started to give me problems.  I do love this size - big enough to have lots of charm and character but small enough to sit snugly in the palm of your hand.  I've even made this little one a little toy for a prop and I'm thrilled with it. I do love the old time teddies, and Manfred has been made to look very vintage. So, it is my pleasure to introduce, The Amazing Manfred and his Wonderdog, Max, with his own Collector Box.

His postage is $15.00 by UPS to most places in North America and can be mailed to Europe by Small Air Packet for the same price.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me - thank you for taking time to peek in at my blog.

AMAZING MANFRED is 3 1/4 inches tall and made from cream German mohair that has been very distressed and aged.  There are some small patches missing mohair and he has a few stains. Max is fully disc-jointed and stuffed with tradional excelsior for a vintage feel.  He is gently waiting with stainless steel shot and granulate.   He has tiny amber glass eyes and a sparse waxed nose.  Max has tiny distressed holes in his paws, where bits of excelsior show through.  His face, ears and paws have been shaded with permanent dye for an antique look.  Max wears a clown collar and matching hat, made from aged and distressed wool felt, and decorated with tiny vintage bells.  They are both removable.

MAX THE WONDERDOG is hand carved from pine and decorated with graphics of a Jack Russel.  It has been permanently glazed with acrylic and is a working toy, with tiny metal wheels and a push handle.  This set  has a wooden heart stand, so the piece can be displayed as walking, if desired.

COLLECTOR BOX is made from paper mache.  The bottom is covered with an old printed book page and the top has a vintage circus image in sepia.  The image is framed and decorated with gold glitter and the picture is aged and decorated with gold foil swirls.  This set is entirely designed and made by me, Brenda Power, and will come with a signed hang tag.  This is a collectable and NOT recommended for children.
