WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Well. the weather has been warming up, the birds are singing and our magnolia tree, our apple blossoms and our lilacs are all starting to bloom. I'm looking at my summer schedule, but I always do better when I have a goal, so I'm thinking about having another show at the end of July.  I know summer is not traditionally, the best time, but I have a zillion ideas swirling in my head and want to try some of them.  For the first time, I'd also like to ask my customers what they would like to see - the tiny bears, the larger bears, dressed bears, undressed bears etc., so if any of you have ideas, please post here of email me with suggestions.  Can't wait to hear from you.

KING KIERAN

King Kieran is a centre seam teddy, made from hand dyed, semi sparse, light beige German Schulte mohair, that has been aged and shaded to give him vintage appeal.  King Kieran is 6 3/4 inches tall without his crown and well over 7 inches with it on his head.  King Kieran is fully disc-jointed, stuffed with excelsior and weighted gently with steel shot for an antique feel.  His eyes are German amber glass and he has a sparse waxed nose.  King Kieran  has a few bald spots, along with tiny holes in his aged, wool felt paws, where bits of excelsior show through.

King Kieran wears a handmade, embossed copper crown, decorated with tiny flatback Austrian crystals. His shield is made from polymer clay, stamped with a celtic symbal and soldered to a copper backing.  He has a matching polymer charm around his neck and a staff, topped with a glass bead and decorated with crystals.  SHIPPING IS $20.00 UPS TO MOST PLACES IN NORTH AMERICA AND BY AIRMAIL, OVERSEAS.
PRICE:  $200.00

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

I've been so fortunate, lately, to to have had time to finish an order AND play with new things.  Today was one of those days, that everything fell into place and I don't have those very often, so I took full advantage of it.  First, the boxes I wanted for my new ornaments were dropped off this morning (yay!),  then everything went perfectly on the finishing touches, for an order and last, I was able to finish up another bear for sale.  I decided to do two posts - one for the ornaments and one for the bear.  It's difficult to decide on a fair price, because they took me ages to do, but I am just learning tu cut glass etc., so I hope to improve my skills.  I hope you enjoy them. :o)  Shipping will be by airmail, and for now, the cost will be $10.00.

Poor Pitiful Peter - This ornament is made from duplicate copies of Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit,  which I have been altered to allow me to layer the images into a 3 dimensional scene, similar to Paper Tole.  Each primary feature has been layered with an acrylic glaze, to make it stand out.  It is encased in class and finished with solder, that has been aged. The dimensions of the ornament are 2 1/2" x 1 " x 1/2". It is finished with an organza ribbon and comes with it's own presentation box, with a matching picture of the ornament, on the box

SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!

Finally, we have some colour in our yard.   I looked out in the back yard to find our trilliums have blossomed almost overnight.  They are one of my all time favourite flowers.  I'm glad the harsh winter didn't harm them.  We have white, some pinkinsh burgundy and one lonely deep burgundy trillium.  It is finally a sign that summer will arrive soon, thank goodness.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

I know it's almost over, but I hope all the mother's out there, had a wonderful Mother's Day with their families.  I wanted to post this this morning, but I couldn't find the picture at the time and we were out all day.  We had dinner at our daughter's, yesterday, and today, Neil and I went out for a lovely drive and then on to dinner at one of our favourite restaurants, in Bobcagen.  It was a beautiful day for a drive.  This is a picture of my grandmother, my mum and my oldest sister, who are no longer with us. My niece, who is about 8 years old in the picture, is now a half century old.  I think about all of them, every single day.  Time is flying by so fast, so spend time with those you love, while you can, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.

HAVING FUN

Every now and then, I need to renew my love of creating with something different.  When I had a small accident a couple of weeks ago and wasn't up to making bears and bunnies, I decided to try an idea that's been swirling around in my head.  The Beatrix Potter ornaments below are one version and I have many more to try.  They are 3Dimensional, like paper tole, and I have glazed the bunnies and accessories with an acrylic glaze.  They are 2 1/2" x 1 " x 1/2" and at the moment,  I am in search of little boxes to decorate and coordinate with these ornaments. Would love some feedback, if you have a moments.  Have a lovely weekend :)
