AFRICAN LION SAFARI!

While we were on holidays, last week, we decided to take our grandson on a last "fun day" before school resumed for the year. He wanted to go to African Lion Safari, which isn't too far from us, so off we went. It was a chance to see lots of animal up close and it was a lot of fun, although we had been warned against taking our own car through. Apparently the baboons love to reek havoc and enjoy ripping the windshield wippers off of cars, as they travel through their area. Having bought a new car in the spring, we decided to take the tour bus and it was a good idea. The baboons did not disappoint us - they provided lots of entertainment, and it was fun watching, since it wasn't our car getting dimolished LOL!

We saw variey of animals up very close - some of them, too close LOL! Our daughter and I leaned as far left as we could, while riding a tour train in an enclosure, where two camels were standing on the track. They slowly meandered one or two steps off the track and we literally could have petted them on the way by! There were lions, cheetahs, zebras, ostrich, rhinos and lots of other birds and animals, wandering their areas freely, coming up to the cars for a peek. I was so annoyed that I missed a perfect picture of an ostrich as he put his face right up to the glass where our grandson was sitting - he loooved it. We saw two bird shows and an elephant show, and although it is sad to see such wonderful animals performing tricks, I'm sure the cost of feeding and maintaining such a large park must be very high. They have one of them most succesful cheetah breeding programs in the world and release back into the wild, which is gratifying. Anyway, I've posted so many pictures - I just couldn't decide which ones to leave out, so enjoy!

A WONDERFUL DRIVE!

Going for long drives in the country is a favourite passtime, for hubby and I. We love to meander back roads, discovering wonderful little towns and pretty views. One of our favourite drives is the Lakeshore Road, along Lake Ontario. There are farms and fruit trees and lots of gorgeous views of the lake. Last summer, one of the farmers planted hollyhocks all along the edge of his fields and it was magnificent. We were hoping he would do it again this year, and he obligued us, even adding gladiolas along side of the hollyhocks. It stretches for ages and it is such a fabulous site. We took our camera with us on our last trip - enjoy the pictures!

PANSY THE BUNNY!

I've just finished Pansy the Bunny, for a wonderful customer/friend of mine. I am really please with her and decided she needed her turn in the spotlight! She is a mere 2 2/3 inches tall and has been hand painted with permanent heat-set paints. Pansy is fully disc-jointed, with German amber eyes, nylon whiskers and a cute little tail. She enjoys sniffing her favourite flower, the pansy. I hope you enjoy her and have a lovely weekend.

BUTTERFLY CART AND FAIRY BEAR!

I have decided to list my handmade Butterfly Cart and Fairy bear for sale on my blog for a few days this time, as the cart did not find a home on Ebay. This is a new Fairy Bear, Tianna and I'm pleased with how she turned out. I will move it to my Etsy shop after three days.

Tianna is made from the pale yellow German Shulte mohair and she is barely 3 inches tall. She's fully disc-jointed and stuffed with excelsior and stainless steel shot. Nissa has tiny amber, german glass eyes, wool felt paw pads and a sparse, waxed nose. She has tiny glittered wings and a white organza ribbon around her neck.

Her Butterfly cart is fashioned after a swallowtail butterfly. It is 5 3/4 inches long x 2 3/4 inches high and 1 3/4 inches wide. It is hand made from basswood and painted with acrylic paints. The cart has pewter wheels and silk ribbon reins.

The Butterfly cart and Fairy bear are for sale separately, but I am offering a discount if they are sold together. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Enjoy!
